Video Otoscope

The useful instrument of video-otoscopy enables thorough cleaning and imaging of the ear canal. With the aid of a hand-held video otoscope, we can see deeper portions of the ear canal, eardrum (also known as the tympanic membrane), and middle ear. Additionally, it permits myringotomy, mass removal or biopsy, and the removal of foreign objects. In order to remove debris brought on by a middle ear infection, a myringotomy is a deliberate puncture of the middle ear. Our patients are sedated during video-otoscopy because ear infections can be excruciatingly painful.
